Namir's mother is a Coptic Christian. She is convinced that she has seen a vision of the Virgin Mary on a video from her Egyptian homeland. Her son, who grew up secular in France, wants to make a movie about the phenomenon and travels to his Egyptian relatives. He wants to show the connection between Egyptian contemporary history and the Marian apparitions of the Coptic minority.

There are several obstacles on the way: his parents, who interfere in the film and criticize his ideas, his French producer, who proposes changes every few weeks, and not least the Coptic hometown itself.

In sheer despair Namir decides to stage his own Marian apparition for the film. But for that, he needs the help of the villagers and his mother.
